There’s a terrific magazine produced in my home country of Australia, with inspiring content for girls – and guess who was invited for an interview?! Little old ME, that’s who! Talk about flattering. Thanks a million Tigress. Very excited to be involved. Get the inside scoop here.
Boy, oh boy, have I got news. I’ve taken a huge leap of faith and relocated from my home of LA, up north to San Francisco, for LOVE. Yep, that’s right! I met an incredible fella, and I’ve taken the plunge.
It’s been 6 weeks only in these NorCal parts, but I have been making moves and am very excited to have confirmed representation with a stellar agency up here; JE Talent. It was such a delight to meet and chat with the good folk at this company, very much a family vibe…and I am so looking forward to working together.
Right before leaving LA I was down to the wire – ON HOLD for 6 days (a whisker away) – from booking a huge advertising campaign for P&O cruises starring Owen Wilson. I can’t believe I didn’t make it over the finish line, GUTTED & soooooo close, but the audition process was an absolute hoot, particularly (in an added bonus & interesting twist), I ended up auditioning with a friend I know from drama school (in Australia) playing my husband! Me and Jimmy were sure it was all going to happen…it seemed too many stars were aligning. The campaign is a series of 3 comedy short films. Watch one here. Quirky & fun.
And, I was super happy to book a supporting role in a short film before heading north. It’s a thriller called Screenings, from the production company, Short Pajamas. I am playing a receptionist at a casting office…gone wrong. Very excited to return to LA for shooting in a couple of weeks.
I recently worked with the brilliant writer/director/producer Laura G.Chirinos on short film Visioneering: Forward Thinkers of the World. It’s a mockumentry style project covering a day in the life of a healer/destiny guide living in LA. I played the lead role – Spirit of Authenticity in the Ritual Afterlife, or Sara, for short. I contributed to the writing also.
We spent two days shooting throughout Los Angeles…and my oh my did we have a laugh in the process! There’s plenty of interpretive dance, awkward moments and silliness.
Can’t wait to see the final cut, and am feeling very optimistic about it’s onward journey.
It’s a fresh new year, and I’m home from Australia – a quality trip with all the right ingredients!
Whilst I was away our short film ‘Only on Mondays’, which I both starred in and help produce screened at The Hollywood and Vine Film Festival. To our delight we WON the award for Best Acting in a Short Film and will be featured in the festival’s magazine publication.
Rehearsals have resumed for indie feature ‘You’, directed by Linton Semage. Shooting commences in Los Angeles mid February.
The wheels are turning! Here we go 2015!!!
Heading home to Melbourne, Australia tonight for a months vacay! Having not been back for 2 years I am extremely excited!
On a wonderful note to finish the year a short film ‘Only on Mondays’ which I starred in and helped to produce with a group of friends has been accepted into the Hollywood and Vine Film Festival and will be screening on December 12th. Shame I’m going to miss it, but absolutely thrilled that we were accepted.
Had an exceptional experience working with Vintage City Entertainment on their stage production ‘Suite V’. Writer and director Tai French is a force to be reckoned with! The opportunity to be involved in something so powerful with such a talented cast was a dream.
The play looked at issues of race, color, judgement, leading by example, keeping up appearances and so much more. From day one of rehearsals I knew we were golden and the chemistry of the cast spot on.
All three performances sold out. We left audiences gasping, laughing, crying and whooping after the emotional journey that was ‘Suite V’. The response was phenomenal and this project goes down as an all time fav!
IN OTHER NEWS…
I have signed on for Sri Lankan director Linton Semage’s new feature film ‘You’.
Based on the Connecticut shootings that took place in 2012 and gunman Adam, this piece is an abstract collaboration unlike any film I’ve worked on. We’ve been rehearsing weekly and filming commences in Los Angeles in February of 2015.
Ooooweeee! Summer is burning up…STILL! And it’s all systems go in this camp!
Had an incredible week a couple back – auditions booming, a call back for a major international commercial, THEN I booked a super juicy role in an indie feature and a lead role in a stage play. Both of these projects; exciting, thought provoking and have me playing an Americano.
The film is a drama called ‘Radical’. I’m Officer Jones. Intelligent, sharp, strong and determined.
‘Suite V’ is the name of the theatre production. I’m Sweet V or Victoria Burns. A mother with 2 bi-racial sons trying to keep it all together, and set in the 70’s. It’s an original piece premiering at The Missing Piece Theatre, Burbank, Los Angeles November 7th, 8th and 9th.
I’m also developing a fabulous character for a comedic short – in the style of Portlandia or This is Spinal Tap. I’ve been having a riot filling the shoes of this very gifted ‘destiny guide’! Stay tuned…
